/Over the past several years the town of Summersville,WV has been given the title of the second largest speed trap in the United States.If you are traveling on U.S. route 19.The chances are you have been through Summersville. I have seen replies from travelers on different forums sites that have blasted the local law enforcement for siting tourist,for what they seem to be unnecessary citations. Mostly speeding tickets.
This puzzles me to no end.The part I cant figure out is,why do these people think their speeding ticket is unjustified.If you are entering Summersville from either end of town,you are meet with several speed limit signs .50 speed limit ahead,caution reduce spped ahead.Even after you are in the city limits.You will see 50 mph signs.What part do these people not understand.50 mph means 50 mph.The warning sings are not suggestion,or if you feel like it or if you don’t mind slowing down.If you are running 10 to 15 mph over the limit.
Yes you will get a ticket.This is the law and you will pay a fine.If you are caught.Is that hard to understand!
Most of you don’t live here,but a lot of people do,like myself.Many of us have seen the result of speeders in a hurry to get to the beach or some other”I have to be there 5 mins sooner” place.The simple fact is people have been killed at every intersection within city limits.Bet you didnt think about that,did you.One of my best friends wife lost her mother across from the exxon intersection,because of someone speeding. What would you do.If this happened to your mother or a close friend.
That is why rt 19 is patrolled more than most highways,because people die here.I can’t explain it any better than that.For those who say “I’ll never go back through Summersville,WV again,because I got a ticket.I say hope you don’t. Good by.See ya.
I just don’t want to see any of my friends or family killed by someone in a hurry tring to get somewhere and I hope I never do.Just remember we live here.The post speed limit is 50 mph.If you can’t do that go around.The local officers will not let you slide.You will get a ticket,

However sometimes the cops in summersville ticket people like me for speeding that simply were not speeding.
