Summersville, WV Marina and Boat Docks

If you are planning to visit Summersville WV and brining your boat with you.You will need to know where the boat launching ramps located.A day spent on Summersville Lake is better than any day at work.Enjoying the time with your family and friends help brake up the dredge of everyday life.Just make sure you play by the rules and have a safe day.

There are a total of four boat ramps located on Summersville Lake. Two are at the Battle Run Campground and the other is located on just off Airport road a mile south of town and the last one is at the marina. All sites do require a $3.00 fee for a day spent on the lake.A “pass” for the season can be purchased from the Army Corp of Engineers for $25.00.That id if the price has not gone up this year.I’ll find out later this week.I don’t understand why a fee is necessary and  and I don’t agree with it,but what you going to do.I guess  they have their reasons that we don’t know about.Back to the ramps.

The first ramp and the closest one to town is on Airport road just off of rt 19.As soon as you turn left onto Airport Boating on Summersville Lake road, hang a right. From there it’s just a short drive to the boat ramp.It would be a good idea to show up early,as there is not a lot of parking.I have seen trailers parked on both sides of the road for over a 1/2 mile heading back out’.Two boats can dock or unload at the same time, but usually someone who can’t back his trailer in.Takes up the whole road.Just leave early get your boat in the water and get your truck and trailer parked you will be fine. The ramp there is concrete and not to steep.Dragging your prop will not be a problem.Restrooms and changing rooms are on site.

The Marina at Summersville Lake has the best parking and the ramp is more ideal for larger boats. The marina does sell gasoline, but they do charge a pretty penny for it.With the price of gas these days I wouldn’t recommend buying at the marina.I’ll hear about that last remark, you can bet on it.You can rent boats and jet skis to.They also sell drinks and hotdogs as well. All the slips at the marina are hard to come buy.The Army Corp of Engineers only allows so many. You can ask,but I don’t believe there are any.

The last two and the most popular ramps are at the campground at Battle run. Mostly because of the beach, you have to pass by it on the way.I am just saying-that’s what I think. There is more parking, around 50 slips I would say.Restrooms  and drink machines as well. The parking is not a issue, just getting out of an parking spot is the problem. In order to get out of your spot you will have to back into the traffic lane and the markers for the parking is facing the wrong direction.Leaving you to back up, make a circle and go back to the ramp.

Remember to have a safe a on Summersville Lake

I'd would be curious to hear what you think, or any recommendations you have to make it better. Comments are always welcome. Thanks everyone for your patience and support!
